Can I visit the Lighthouse on my own?
The property Point SLO Lighthouse resides on is owned by Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. For the sake of security the road and hiking trail to the Lighthouse are closed to the general public. You can however kayak to the Lighthouse on your own, and we do offer tours to kayakers if they buy tickets in advance.

Lighthouse Grounds Regulations
The lighthouse is committed to being a smoke free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited on the property.
Pets are not permitted on tours. The only animals permitted on the tours or in the buildings are service animals. Prior notice must be given to Lighthouse staff if you are planning on bringing a service animal.
Photography and flash photography are permitted on tours, however tripods and video are not. Guests who arrive with video cameras will be instructed to leave them in their cars.
We ask that guests leave food and beverages in their cars. Water and light snacks are permitted.
